The key objectives of OAPS are to promote scholarly communication and to
facilitate intellectual exchange across disciplines. We are happy that OAPS
is now expanding its visibility in the global arena. Not only can OAPS papers
be accessed locally and remotely from the Library Catalogue, they are also
searchable on a lot of popular search engines for scholarly literature. By
engaging students with the global community, we hope to broaden their horizons,
nurture their multicultural sensitivity, and prepare them for a highly globalized,
hi-tech world as enunciated in the University’s Academic Development Proposal
(ADP) 2012-2015. As a continued effort to uphold academic integrity and to
enhance scholarly communication, cross-institutional teacher-student training
programmes and student-peer learning programmes will be developed and built
upon in the Project. It is hoped that students can learn from their mentors and
peers during their learning journeys, equipping them to be competent scholars
and professionals after graduation.
The achievement of OAPS would not be possible without the gracious support of
Prof. Arthur Ellis, our partner institutions, the dedication of faculty members and
the unfailing support from academic departments. The OAPS project will seek
continuous improvement by inviting academic scholars worldwide as external
reviewers to provide feedback on the further development of the project. We hope
to establish the project as a role model to inspire others. Taking this opportunity,
we would like to congratulate this year’s award-winning students and wish that
their enthusiasm for learning will thrive with their academic pursuits.
